Another now easy to gather taste treat. Seems ocean acidity has them at risk. They are now in decline off Washington coast.
Mushrooms
Yesterday I found some yellow foots and hedge hogs. Will have some for Thanksgiving dinner, with more to come. Continuing with mild good mushroom weather- mixed with a few mild frosts. Didn't find any chantrells. Done?

Interesting time to feel optimistic
Here we are going into this recession, and I'm feeling optimistic. Well, for one thing, we are going to be spending our way out of this, and we sure have some things such as infrastructure, education, energy, transportation and health care to spend on. It's all about good investments and making government work better. This last trip I took AMTRAK to San Francisco and back, and for the first time in my years of experience, it was on time both ways. Used to run about 5 hours late between Eugene and Oakland/San Francisco. Freight had priority over people. A lot of track problems and deferred maintenance. Still more track work needed in order to come up to speed. Been looking at more of Gypsie's slides. gypsie108@yahoo.com. Some nice travel and shopping pictures of South East Asia . Bob, Kevin, and I are in the Thailand, Laos and Cambodia pics. Hope to meet up again in Pai, after the new year.
